The Ministry of Health has reported 100 new COVID-19 cases as of 12 pm on August 18. This takes the national tally of infections to 55,938.
The vast majority of the new cases are Work Permit holders currently under quarantine.
There is one community case who is currently unlinked. He works at a bus depot in a role that is non-public facing and does not entail interaction with commuters and bus captains.
MOH said in a statement, "He was detected as part of our screening of all staff in the public bus industry who work at depots and interchanges. This is a precautionary measure after MOH detected some cases at Bukit Panjang Integrated Transport Hub."
Additionally, there are two imported cases, one of which is a Singapore Permanent Resident who returned to Singapore from India on August 6. The remaining case is a Dependant’s Pass holder who arrived from India on August 10.
Both of them had been placed on 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore, and were serving their SHN at dedicated facilities. They had been tested while serving their SHN.
