The Ministry of Health has reported 119 new COVID-19 infections in Singapore as of 12 pm on June 23. This takes the nation’s tally of cases to 42,432.
The vast majority of the new cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories. There are also three cases in the community, of whom one is a Singapore Permanent Resident and two are Work Pass holders.
"The Singapore Permanent Resident case had been detected due to our proactive surveillance of persons working at dormitories, even though he is asymptomatic," said MOH.
Both the Work Pass/ Work Permit holders are also asymptomatic but were tested as part of efforts to screen workers in essential services.
405 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
