The Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 448 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of 12 pm on May 21, with the country’s total infection count nearing 30,000.
Of the new cases, the vast majority are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, and 99 per cent of them are linked to known clusters.
Meanwhile, 13 cases are Singaporeans/Permanent Residents.
Of these, seven cases were picked up from our active surveillance and screening of nursing home residents and pre-school staff, and four are part of a family cluster linked to a dormitory.
“We are still working through the details of the cases, and further updates will be shared via the MOH press release that will be issued tonight,” the ministry added.

The total number of infections stands at 29,812. 910 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on May 21. In all, 12,117 have fully recovered from the infection and have been discharged.
Singapore is due to start lifting its circuit breaker measures starting June 2. The measures will be lifted in three phases.
