The Ministry of Health has reported 158 fresh COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of 12 pm on July 8. This takes the national tally of infections to 45,298.
The vast majority of the new cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories. There are also nine cases in the community, of whom four are Singaporeans/ Permanent Residents and five are work pass holders.
Additionally, there are 3 imported cases, two of which are Indian nationals who are Dependant's Pass holders, and have returned to Singapore from India on June 26. The remaining case is a Singaporean who returned to Singapore from the Philippines on June 26. All of them had been placed on 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore, and had been tested while serving their SHN.
Meanwhile, 321 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
