The Ministry of Health has reported 386 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of 12 pm on June 8. This takes the national tally of infections to 38,296.
Of the new cases, the vast majority are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.
There are also two cases in the community – one is a Singaporean while the other is Work Pass holder.
Both were symptomatic, and had been tested after seeking medical treatment at Public Health Preparedness Clinics.
MOH noted in its press statement that the number of new cases in the community has increased, from an average of three cases per day in the week before, to an average of nine per day in the past week.
Meanwhile, 482 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
