The IPL 2022 auction in Bengaluru saw 10 teams investing a total of INR 551 crore to acquire 204 players, including 67 foreigners, as India's wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was the most expensive player at INR 15.25 crore, scooped up by Mumbai Indians.
He also became the second most expensive Indian player at the event after Yuvraj Singh (INR 16 crore) in 2015.
The bid also witnessed as many as eight players from India among the 10 costliest buys.
Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar went back to Chennai Super Kings for INR 14 crore, whereas Shreyas Iyer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 12.25 crore.
Shardul Thakur (INR 10.75 crore – Delhi Capitals), Wanindu Hasaranga (INR 10.75 crore – Royal Challengers Bangalore), Harshal Patel (INR 10.75 crore – Royal Challengers Bangalore), Nicholas Pooran (INR 10.75 crore – Sunrisers Hyderabad), Lockie Ferguson (INR 10 crore – Gujarat Titans), Prasidh Krishna (INR 10 crore – Rajasthan Royals) and Avesh Khan (INR 10 crore – Lucknow Super Giants) were the other players to break the 10-crore mark.
The bargain deals of the day were IPL legend David Warner going for INR 6.25 crore to Delhi Capitals and Quinton de Kock joining Lucknow Super Giants for INR 6.75 crore.
Indian domestic players also made good money; Riyan Parag went for INR 3.80 crore to Rajasthan Royals, while Abhinav Manohar's got a INR 2.60 crore deal from Gujarat Titans after doing well in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
South Africa's U-19 World Cup star Dewald Brevis who is also called the 'Baby AB' was brought by Mumbai Indians for INR 3 crore.
