The 20th edition of President’s Star Charity (PSC) – themed "Believe You Can" will be broadcast live on Sunday, October 4, featuring a luminous line-up of local and international stars.
As Mediacorp’s flagship fundraiser under the President’s Challenge, the event will be headlined by Brit Awards 2020 Best New Artist recipient Lewis Capaldi and Indonesian pop powerhouse Rossa.
Guest-of-Honour President Halimah Yacob will also participate in tile painting alongside Mediacorp artistes and Muhammad Saifudeen Abdul Salim, a 23-year-old aspiring motivational speaker with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore).
Other highlights include the debut performance of “Believe”, the first-ever PSC theme song penned by Singaporean singer-songwriters Jarell Huang and JJ Neo; a catchy medley of crowd-pleasing classics belted by venerated vocalists Rahimah Rahim and Joanna Dong; as well as a poignant segment involving visually impaired teenager Adelyn Koh.
In addition, Mediacorp artistes have also taken on the task of learning unfamiliar skills in uplifting acts with their fellow performers. These include a captivating puppetry presentation by members of community outreach initiative Artbeatz and celebrities Kym Ng, Tyler Ten and Joshua Marc; plus a dynamic dance number by local showbiz icon Zoe Tay and dancers with special needs from the Diverse Abilities Dance Collective.
Mediacorp artistes Pierre Png and Elvin Ng will also accompany seven Team SG athletes in ferrying nine President’s Challenge beneficiaries on a scenic two-hour trishaw ride under the auspices of fundraising enterprise Cycling Without Age. The ride will culminate on air with a warm welcome by President Halimah Yacob upon their arrival at the Townsquare at Mediacorp.
"Over the years, the President’s Challenge has been rallying the wider community to contribute their time and skills, on top of monetary contributions, to help vulnerable groups in Singapore," said President Halimah Yacob.
"I am heartened by the continued support of our donors, partners and volunteers for the President’s Challenge, especially during this challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope everyone will continue to donate generously, as your support will be invaluable in our efforts to uplift the lives of the less fortunate groups in society," she added.
The President’s Star Charity 2020 will be live on Channel 5, meWATCH and meWATCH YouTube on Sunday, October 4, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
