The Ministry of Health has reported 248 new COVID-19 cases in Singapore as of 12 pm on July 16. This takes the national tally of infections to 47,126.
The vast majority of the new cases are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories. Of the new cases, 96 per cent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.
There are also 11 cases in the community, of whom two are Singaporeans/ Permanent Residents, seven are Work Pass holders and two are Dependant’s Pass holders.
There are also four imported cases, three of whom are Singaporeans/Permanent Residents who returned from the USA on July 3 and Azerbaijan on July 4.
The remaining case is a Work Pass holder who is currently employed in Singapore. She arrived in Singapore from Indonesia on July 4.
All of them had been placed on 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore, and had been tested while serving their SHN.
