The inaugural flight (EK862) took off from Dubai International Airport at 8:51 AM on the morning of July 1 and landed at Muscat International Airport (MCT) in just 40 minutes. The flight spanned 349 km, reaching an altitude of 19,000 feet.

Emirates’ Twitter account shared some fun facts about this flight:

"The introduction of the A380 services to Muscat means more of our customers will have the opportunity to experience our industry-leading products onboard, and will also enhance choice and travel preferences as they plan their journeys,” said Shaikh Majid Al Mualla, Divisional Senior Vice-President Commercial Operations Centre, Emirates.

The A380 Dubai-Muscat service is the shortest route in Emirates’ network and breaks the airline’s own record of the shortest scheduled A380 service, between Dubai and Doha. However, all flights to Doha were cancelled in 2017 due to an ongoing diplomatic row between Qatar and the UAE.
