The Ministry of Health reported 49 new COVID-19 cases as of 12 pm on September 2. This takes the national tally of confirmed infections to 56,901.
Majority of the new infections are foreign workers residing in dormintories.
Among the new cases, there are three in the community, of whom 1 is a Singaporean and 2 are Work Pass holders. They are currently unlinked.
Additionally, there are three imported cases, two of which are Work Pass/Work Permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from India and the Philippines on August 21. Both of them had been placed on 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) upon arrival in Singapore, and had been tested while serving their SHN at dedicated facilities.
The remaining case is a seaman who had been tested upon arrival from Indonesia on 26 August. He had been isolated while awaiting his test result, and was subsequently conveyed in an ambulance to a hospital when it came back positive.
