The Ministry of Health has reported 533 new cases of COVID-19 as of 12 pm on May 27. This takes the national tally of infections to 32,876.
The vast majority of the new cases are Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, said MOH in a press release.
There were four cases reported in the local community, and three are Singaporeans/Permanent Residents.
The number of new cases in the community has increased, from an average of 5 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 6 per day in the past week. This is partly due to active surveillance and screening of nursing home residents and pre-school staff, which have picked up more cases in the past week, MOH said.
832 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
Since Monday, MOH has also been sharing a list of places visited by COVID-19 cases. Four such public spots in Jurong have been identified – a wet market at Block 963 Jurong West Street 91, the FairPrice Xtra supermarket at Jurong Point shopping centre, the NTUC FairPrice grocery store and a Japanese “food street” at Jurong Point.
Those who visited these places during the timings specified by the MOH have been advised to monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit.
