Singapore reported an additional 682 cases of COVID-19 infection as of 12pm on Sunday, May 17, bringing the national tally to 28,038.
Majority of the new cases continue to be foreign workers residing in dormitories, including in factory-converted dormitories, due to extensive testing in these premises.
Of the new cases, 99 per cent are linked to known clusters, Ministry of Health (MOH) said in a press statement.
There are five new COVID-19 cases reported in the local community, four of are Singaporeans/Permanent Residents. The number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 8 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 3 per day in the past week, MOH siad.
Meanwhile, 998 more cases of COVID-19 infection have been discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities.
