Following its inaugural success, the RedDot Bhangra Competition (RDBC) is back for its second edition in Singapore – and this time, it’s bigger and better.
The six teams – three local and three international – are ready to set the dance floor on fire with some fantastic bhangra moves on Saturday, July 20, at Gateway Theatre.
This year, audiences are in for a treat. “We are bringing in a whole bunch of new elements for RDBC2019,” said Hargobind Singh, founder of RedDot Bhangra and director of the competition.
This year the event has expanded to include more guest performances; including the Singapore Dhol Squad, local modern-Indian dance troupe NUS Naach and Bhangra Loverz, hailing all the way from India.
Another highlight is the judging panel that is going international this year, featuring judges from the US, Australia and UK circuit.
Speaking about his experience leading the team, Hargobind explained that passion keeps him going. “It feels like I picked up a second full-time job, but this non-profit event that we put together is really unique. It came out of nowhere, but we are so happy to have it.”
Watch our sneak peek into RDBC2019, as Hargobind and other representatives of local teams tell us what we can expect from this year’s bhangra competition.
