The first ever India 101 Internationalisation Conference was hosted today, August 29, by Singapore India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI) together with SME Centre@SICCI.
Held at the Lifelong Learning Institute, the conference aims to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Singapore better understand the Indian market potential, regulatory environment, business and cultural landscape.
Dr Tan Wu Meng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore, graced India 101 as Guest of Honour.
“India is at an exciting intersection of transformation and sustainable growth, driving innovation and value at scale,” said Chairman of SICCI, Dr T Chandroo. “India 101 serves as a platform for Singapore SMEs to identify business opportunities in India and help expand their operations and capabilities, providing an avenue to learn from industry experts and leading businesses”.
The day-long event featured keynotes and panel discussions on potential business opportunities and investment scenarios in India. Experts and key industry speakers included Ratan P Watal, Member Secretary of the Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister of India.
Prasoon Mukherjee, Vice Chairman of SICCI, added that the Chamber is working alongside Singapore Business Federation (SBF), Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) and Singapore Malay Chamber Of Commerce & Industry (SMCCI) on internalising SMEs in the country.
"We are not limiting our support to SICCI members. Rather, we want to go beyond the Indian business community and help as many companies as we can to venture into India and find opportunities," he said.
