Singapore-based Head of Content and Ad sales for Singtel Anurag Dahiya is moving to International Cricket Council (ICC) in Dubai as its Chief Commercial Officer.
“It is an honour for me to be joining the ICC at such an exciting time. I am looking forward to working with the team to ensure cricket is optimally placed to make the most of the opportunities presented to us by a fast-changing media and sponsorship landscape," said Anurag Dahiya.
Commenting on the appointment, ICC CEO Mr Manu Sawhney said, “I am delighted to welcome a commercial leader of Anurag’s calibre to the ICC. He brings extensive experience across the commercial, content and media rights functions that are so important if we are to achieve our long-term ambition for global growth.”
Anurag has been a part of Mr Sawhney’s team at ESPN Star Sports (ESS) in India and thereafter in Singapore when Mr Sawhney served as Managing Director for South Asia and Asia respectively.
“With a long career in media and sports Anurag is well suited for CCO’s role at ICC,” said an industry insider.
Anurag was a crucial member of teams at ESS which were responsible for conceptualising and launching Premier Hockey League (PHL), acquiring the crucial ICC rights for ESS, launching India's first international cricket-only channel Star Cricket and overseeing the launch of ESPN STAR Sports' first 24×7 sports news channel ESPN EWS and OTT platform ESPN Play.
As Singtel’s Head of Content and Media Sales, he ran the platform’s video content strategy and managed content operations for Singtel’s IPTV and OTT video platforms.
Anurag holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
He spent 14 years with Fox International Channels (previously ESPN STAR Sports) as Senior Vice President Strategy and Business Development where his responsibilities included cricket rights and content acquisition working on high profile, high-value acquisition of sports rights.
