The Ministry of Health (MOH) announced 799 new cases of COVID-19 in Singapore as of 12 pm on April 27, taking the country’s tally to 14,423.
As has been the trend for some time, the majority of the new cases are work permit holders living in foreign worker dormitories. Most of these cases have a mild illness and are being monitored in the community isolation facilities or general ward of our hospitals.
Fourteen cases are Singaporeans or permanent residents. MOH said the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 29 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 20 per day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 19 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 13 per day in the past week.
Singapore has extended its circuit breaker period till June 1 with strict safe distancing measures in place to break the spread of the novel coronavirus.
