Twitter has been the platform on which Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood’s new film Kisaan has been officially announced.
Directed by E. Niwas the film will be produced by screenwriter-director Raaj Shaandilyaa who made his directorial debut with the Hindi movie Dream Girl. The rest of the cast is to be announced soon.
Shaandilyaa took to Twitter to announce his next production under his company Thinkink Picturez. Our farmers…Pride of our nation says the Hindi line in his Tweet.
There is heightened interest in the new film amid the ongoing farmers' protest in India as the movie’s title in Hindi, Kisaan translates to Farmer in English.
Veteran Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan was among the first celebrities to share his best wishes for team Kisaan to which Sonu Sood responded with a message that reads: "Thank you so much sir."
E Niwas is the director of Hindi movies Shool, Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, Dum, Bardaasht, My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves, Detaali and Total Siyappa among others.
Actor Sonu recently launched a book titled I Am No Messiah in which he recounts his experience of helping migrant workers during the COVID-19 lockdown.
He did an unveiling of the book with the legendary Senior Bachchan on Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) – the Hindi edition of the popular show, Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
“Happy beginnings for everyone around the global fraternity. Keep doing what you do best”, said Sood in his tweet from the sets of KBC.
Sood's act of generously gifting mobile phones to close to 100 members on the sets of his movie was also hailed by Twitterati and his fans.
