In its continuous effort to adopt the latest technology and get prompt response from doctors, Dubai will soon have ‘E-consult stations’ at several places where patients can perform health checkups themselves.
These ‘E-consult stations’ will be equipped with 18 devices and the patients will be connected to the doctors through a computer screen. The station will help the patients in getting blood pressure and temperature measurements, visual/audio tests, blood glucose and blood cholesterol level measurements, retina scan and other services.
During the entire process, a doctor will guide the patient in the seven to 15-minute consultation period through the monitor, on which the test results appear. At the end of consultation, a medical report and referral sheet will be printed out.
The E-consult station will be initially installed at Dubai Health Authority (DHA) and a mall in Dubai for a month-long period at the end of April.
The system has been designed in partnership with Alpha Systems as part of Dubai Future Accelerators. It was also showcased at the Future Cities Show where Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, graced the event.
Speaking about the attributes of E-consult station, Dr. Jumana Hayder, physical executive at Alpha Systems, said, “The aim behind the stations is to improve employees’ health. These stations can be deployed in malls, supermarkets, clinics, schools and universities.”
She also said, “There are 30 stations already deployed in malls, supermarkets, clinics and elderly homes across Europe with ongoing discussions to have the stations in Dubai.”
