Known across the world for creating new records, Dubai now holds the Guinness World Record for the ‘Picture taken with the longest selfie stick.’
This record was broken during the launch of ITP Live, a social influence division of ITP Media Group, held at the brand-new Viceroy Palm Jumeirah hotel which was attended by 300 guests. The whole event was captured by a camera on a selfie stick measuring a whopping 16 metres (almost half a metre longer than that of the previous record holders, which measured 15.57 metres).
Interestingly, the title had previously been held by Blasteem’s Matt & Bise, two Italian bloggers who created a selfie stick measuring 15.57 metres.
Samer Khallouf, an official adjudicator from Guinness World Records, was present at the site to take the measurements. He announced, “The selfie stick adhered to the guidelines breaking the current record title. As the global authority on record-breaking, we are always happy to see such great feats in the UAE and be a part of these astonishing events.”
Excited about this remarkable feat, Ahmad Bashour, ITP Live’s General Manager, said, “Breaking the record was a nice way to celebrate the official launch of our influencer website and it is great to be a Guinness World Record holder, but our real objective here is to break records for a clients and help them harness the power of the influencer market.”
The biggest social media giants were also present at the venue including YouTube sensations Rashed Belhasa (AKA Money Kicks) and Mo Vlogs and a special guest appearance from American superstar rapper Fat Joe.
