Flying from Singapore to London will become even easier from June 2024. From that month, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will operate non-stop flights between Singapore and London Gatwick Airport, which is the second most important airport in the UK capital after London Heathrow.
The Instagram page of Singapore Airlines announced: “A new gateway to London awaits, via Gatwick Airport! From 21 June 2024, Singapore Airlines will operate five-times weekly to Gatwick Airport. Along with our existing flights to Heathrow Airport, this brings the total number of flights to London to 33 times weekly.”
Tickets for these new flights are going on sale through SIA distribution channels from today (December 19, 2023), according to a Mothership report.
As per information available until yesterday, SIA flights on the Singapore to London Gatwick route will be operated on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. SIA said that the first flight on this nonstop route was scheduled for 11.55pm local time on June 21, 2024.
The first nonstop return flight from London Gatwick to Singapore is reportedly scheduled for 10.15am local time on June 22, 2024. This return flight will land in Singapore at 6.20am on June 23, 2024. On a weekly basis, the return flights on this new route will be operated on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
According to reports, the aircraft to be used for this route is the Airbus A350-900, which has 253 seats in three cabin classes: 42 seats in Business Class; 24 seats in Premium Economy Class; and 187 seats in Economy Class.
At present, SIA operates four daily flights to London Heathrow, making it a total of 28 flights per week to London. The new flights to London Gatwick will then make it 33 flights per week to London.
More connections to SE Asia and Australia-New Zealand
The timing of the new London Gatwick to Singapore flights would give passengers the chance to connect to other flights — this includes SIA and budget carrier Scoot flights — from Singapore to destinations in South-East Asia and to Australia-New Zealand, as per a SIA statement. Besides London, SIA flies to Manchester Airport in the United Kingdom five times a week.
