In its latest update this afternoon on turbulence-hit flight SQ321, Singapore Airlines has said that 52 passengers are still in Bangkok, including 34 still in hospital. All the crew members are back in Singapore.

Posting Update 11 on Facebook, Singapore Airlines said: “As of 1630hrs (Singapore Time) on 27 May 2024, Singapore Airlines (SIA) can confirm that 52 passengers who were on board SQ321 are still in Bangkok. This includes 34 passengers receiving medical treatment in the hospital.

“We can confirm that all crew members who were on board SQ321 have returned to Singapore.”

In an update last evening, SIA had said that the aircraft hit by turbulence had returned to Singapore. At that point — “[as of] 1830hrs (Singapore Time) on 26 May 2024” — 40 passengers and one crew member were still “receiving medical treatment in the hospital” in Bangkok. A few more have been released by now.

Flight SQ321 had made an emergency landing on May 21 at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi after being battered by turbulence while it was flying over South-East Asia on its way from London to Singapore.

Last evening’s SIA update said: “Singapore Airlines has been in contact with passengers and crew members who were on SQ321, including those who are still in Bangkok. Where requested, we have facilitated travel to Bangkok for their families and loved ones.

“The well-being of our passengers and staff is our utmost priority.

“On 26 May 2024, the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft that operated flight SQ321 on 20 May 2024 was flown back to Singapore from Bangkok. It landed at 1339hrs (Singapore Time). SIA is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities in the investigation into this incident.”

Giving out helpline numbers, the carrier said: “Family members and loved ones seeking information may contact the Singapore Airlines hotlines at +65-6542-3311 (Singapore), 1800-845-313 (Australia), or 080-0066-8194 (the United Kingdom).
