Social media is divided over a purported Microsoft employee driving autorickshaw in Bangalore on weekends to fight his loneliness. As soon as an X user made the post, it triggered a debate, with some siding with the autorickshaw driver and others questioning the authenticity of the man’s connection with the US tech giant.
The post was uploaded by X user Venkatesh Gupta. He wrote, “Met a 35-year-old staff software engineer at Microsoft in Koramangala driving Namma Yatri to combat loneliness on weekends.”
The man was seen donning a Microsoft hoodie while seated on the driver’s seat of the autorickshaw. The X post cannot be independently verified by Connected to India.

One user commented: “That’s just plain sad. (if true)”
Another said: “They’ll complain about moonlighting.”
A third expressed doubt over the driver being a Microsoft techie. “There’s no “Staff Software Engineer” designation at Microsoft,” the user said.
A fourth said: “Or, some techie working at Microsoft has given this kind person their hoodie.”
While this post might have caught the attention of social media users, spotting tech workers doubling as a bike taxi driver or an auto driver is not new in India’s tech capital.
