Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen to visit China, attend meeting on Asia-Pacific prosperity and stability

Singapore’s Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen will be visiting Beijing, China from 11 to 13 September 2024 to attend the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, an official news release stated.

Dr Ng will speak at the first plenary session titled “Security Cooperation and Asia-Pacific Prosperity and Stability” on 13 September 2024.

As part of his visit, Dr Ng will have bilateral engagements with Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission General Zhang Youxia and other senior leaders from the People’s Liberation Army.

The minister’s visit underscores the longstanding, warm and friendly bilateral defence relations between Singapore and China.

The Beijing Xiangshan Forum, co-organised by the China Association of Military Sciences and the China Institute for International Strategic Studies, brings together high-level defence, military and foreign affairs leaders from around the world to discuss a range of
security issues.

The theme of this year’s forum is “Promoting Peace for a Shared Future”, and topics that will be discussed include the evolving international order and global security governance.
