Goyal met Shailendra Singh and Rohit Agarwal of leading venture capital and growth investment firm Peak XV Partners, which was formerly known as Sequoia Capital India & SEA.

Sharing images from the meeting with the Peak XV Partners MDs, Goyal tweeted: “Discussed India’s thriving startup ecosystem and the government’s efforts to enhance ease of doing business. Also, explored potential opportunities in sectors such as green investments and emerging technologies like AI.”

As per Startup India, the country has the 3rd largest startup ecosystem in the world. Earlier in 2024, a report by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) predicted that Indian startups are likely to add USD 1 trillion to the economy and create 50 million new jobs by FY30.

Earlier this month, reports emerged about the firm selling 22 percent stake in Pune-headquartered Indigo Paints for INR 1,557 crore (USD 186.43 million). The company offloaded a total of 10.5 million shares through two of its affiliates.

Goyal also met Sean Chiao, Group CEO, Surbana Jurong. Chiao has hailed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership as “exceptional” following his meeting with the Indian leader during the latter’s Singapore trip earlier in September.

Speaking to ANI, Chiao had said, “It is very exciting to meet PM Modi in person. His leadership is exceptional. This is his third term. For the past two terms, you can see that India has become one of the major players globally and the fifth-largest economy in the world. I would encourage him to open up the market to consider some of the new policies or improve some existing policies to encourage more collaboration with Singaporean companies and investments.”

About their meeting, Minister Goyal said it was a “productive discussion on the company’s plans for India’s fast-developing urban and industrial infrastructure sector”.

“India looks forward to closely collaborating with Surbana Jurong in shaping next-generation infrastructure globally,” the Indian minister said.

As per reports, the Singapore-based company had been a part of an affordable housing project by the Gujarat Housing Board.

Goyal’s third meeting was with Phua Mei Ming, CEO of HTL International. The sofa-manufacturing company is looking to expand its footprint in India with the opening of 10 exclusive stories in several tier-1 cities.
