Former One Direction singer Liam Payne dies at 31 after falling from hotel balcony in Buenos Aires

Former pop boyband One Direction singer Liam Payne has died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires in Argentina, media reports said. He was 31.

According to CNN, the incident happened at a hotel on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighbourhood on Wednesday.

Buenos Aires Police said its team members rushed to the hotel after receiving a 911 call about an “aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs or alcohol”.

The hotel manager said he heard a loud noise from the back of the inn.

Police, as they claimed, discovered Liam who had fallen from the balcony in his room.

Reacting to the news of his death, American singer Charlie Puth wrote on Instagram, “I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I cannot believe he is gone…”

Born on August 29, 1993, Liam shot to fame being a member of the band, One Direction.

He made his debut in 2008 auditioning for the British TV series, The X Factor.

After being eliminated in the first bid, Liam took another chance in 2010 and he was selected as one of the four members of One Direction.

Payne signed a recording contract with Republic Records in North America after One Direction went into an indefinite hiatus in 2015.

Two years later, he released his lead single- Strip That Down- from his debut solo studio album.
