Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk has scripted history by becoming the first person to breach the USD 400 billion net worth mark.
The 53-year-old businessman has been on a roll of late. Musk’s net worth surged past the mark and is currently at USD 447 billion, following an insider share sale of Space X, his private space exploration company.
The sale reportedly added USD 50 billion to his net worth. The other factor that led to the swell in Musk’s fortunes is the record-high share value of Tesla on Wednesday, December 11.
In the last few weeks, Musk has seen his friend and Republican candidate Donald Trump win the US presidential elections. Trump, who received endorsement from Musk, hailed the tech entrepreneur as a ‘new star’ in his victory speech.
Just days later, Musk was appointed as one of the heads, alongside Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy, of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Musk is now the richest person in the world by a country mile. A distant second on the list is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, whose total worth of is USD 249 billion.
Mark Zuckerberg, Larry Ellison and Bernard Arnault complete the top 5, with net worth of USD 224 billion, USD 198 billion and USD 181 billion, respectively.
