Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has confirmed he is planning to introduce an e-mail service which could potentially challenge Google’s widely used email service Gmail.
The world’s richest man gave a hint about introducing his own e-mail service while giving a reply to a post by an independent App Researcher Nima Owji, who said: “Having an @x.com email address is the only thing that can stop me from using Gmail!”
Musk wrote sharing Owji’s remark: “Interesting. We need to rethink how messaging, including email, works overall.”
Musk dropped a similar hint in another X post by a user named Doge Designer, where he wrote: “𝕏 Mail would be cool. username@𝕏.com.”
Musk said: “Yeah. On the list of things to do.”
The speculation over the new e-mail service triggered a massive response from X users.
One Internet user wrote: “I would use it. I’m still waiting for my X Phone @cb_doge.”
Another said: “𝕏 is becoming the EVERYTHING app.”
“Power move waiting to happen, make it real @elonmusk,” an X user wrote.
As per a Forbes report, Gmail has 2.5 billion users which stands for nearly a third of the world’s population.
