Life will be a lot easier now for those who regularly travel from Singapore to India, as Jet Airways has launched a daily direct flight from Bengaluru to Singapore recently.
The step has been taken in response to the "growing demand in this sector, particularly from business and corporate travellers".
"Over the past two years, there has been an encouraging 15% year-on-year growth from Singapore to south Indian cities. Apart from business travellers, there are people who visit friends and relatives in Bangalore. The city's weather conditions is another plus. Guests from Bengaluru can connect to several Asian destinations including Haneda, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Penang and Shanghai, as well as leading Australian ones such as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth over Singapore," said the airlines.
Volume of travellers
Singapore reportedly has 220 flights a week to 15 Indian cities, with about 2 million passengers travelling tru-and-fro and around 3.4 million Indian travellers passing through the Changi International Airport annually.
Flight schedule
Jet Airways has deployed the Boeing 737-800 aircraft on this route, with the following daily services:
Flight 9W 024 will depart Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport at 11.10am and arrive in Singapore at 6.10pm (all local times)
Flight 9W 023 will leave Singapore at 7.15pm to arrive in Bengaluru at 9.15pm (all local times).
Jayaraj Shanmugam, Jet Airways' Chief Commercial Officer, said, "Jet Airways is delighted to launch a direct service between Bengaluru and Singapore. The introduction of this new service is in keeping with the growing popularity amongst our guests, for enhanced seamless connectivity between the ASEAN region and India. Both Bengaluru and Singapore are popular destinations for information technology, tourism, trade and investment, therefore it was only logical for Jet Airways' to facilitate the same for the Indian traveller."
This move is expected to strengthen Jet Airways’ position in Singapore and the ASEAN Region. Presently, Jet Airways operates daily flights from Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai to Singapore.
