What is India’s oldest language? What is the theme of government's media campaign for Indian workers for overseas employment? Who was Aryabhatta? If you know the answers to these questions, then enter ‘Bharat ko Janiye’ quiz contest, which is offering an incredible 15-day tour to India, including a visit to Lakshadweep, as the prize.
The contest provides an opportunity for you to discover fun yet little-known facts about your country of heritage.
Organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, the aim of the contest is to motivate overseas Indian youth to develop an interest in and understand India, its heritage, history and current state.
The contest is open to all members of the Indian diaspora who are between 15 and 35 years old, whether PIOs or NRIs (born not before January 1, 1984 and not after January 1, 2004).
Those interested in taking part can register online at www.bharatkojaniye.in. Many overseas Indians across the world have already signed up. The last date of registration is July 5.
Topics of the quiz include – Indian Art, Indian Democracy, Economy, Geography, Personalities in Music and Dance, Science & Technology, Languages & Literature, Education, Tradition of Indian Crafts, Indian Cinema and Renowned Personalities.
The quiz will be conducted in four rounds. The first round will be conducted by various Indian Missions/Posts abroad. In Singapore, the first round is being organised by High Commission of India.
This round will contain 30 questions to be selected randomly by the computer to be answered in 25 minutes. There will be no negative marking. Indian origin youths who do not possess OCI/PIO cards may also participate in the first round without submitting proof of OCI/PIO documents.
The top three contenders/participants of the first round of quiz from each category of NRI and PIO will qualify for second round. They will be given also be given medals by the Indian High Commission.
The second, third and fourth rounds will be conducted by the MEA.
10 finalists from each category of NRI and PIO will be invited to India for a 15-day Bharat Ko Janiye Yatra, including a visit to Lakshadweep. Government of India will bear all expenses, including lodging, travel expenses and food costs.

This is the second edition of ‘Bharat ko Janiye’ quiz contest. In the first edition, young overseas Indians from more than 96 countries participated. Top 10 persons in each category, NRIs and PIOs, were invited to participate in the final round in New Delhi.
