The F16s are an alternative band from the port city of Chennai, India. Their music echoes the melancholia that grapples with the mundanity of everyday life in a town that serves very little outside of itself.
Beat-driven yet innately melodic, the band already has a couple of prior releases: a six-track EP released in 2013 called Kaleidoscope, and a two-track single recorded in Brooklyn, New York called Nobody's Gonna Wait.
When: November 23-24
Where: Esplanade Outdoor Theatre

4. Gods, Guardians and Avengers
The Indian artisan since time immemorial has always looked to nature for inspiration, especially animals. Besides functioning as decorative motifs, animals in Indian art and craft also represent gods, guardians and avengers, inhabiting an enchanted world.
In this talk, Shivani K Kulpati and Soumya Ayer discuss how Indian artists “tamed” animals through their visual representations. They will touch on myths, history and culture to bring to life beliefs that are still very much a living tradition.
