Agra is being given a makeover to welcome the President of the United States Donald Trump to India on February 24-25.
The city’s Municipal Corporation is getting the walls around Taj Mahal painted while machines have been engaged to clean up the roads leading to the monument. Artists have also been engaged in making the wall look beautiful with wall paintings.
Meanwhile, dividers on the roads are being repainted and statues at prominent crossroads in the city are also being cleaned up in anticipation of Trump's visit. The US President might also attend the cultural show named ‘Mohabbat – The Taj’ which will be held at Kalakruti auditorium near the monument.
Trump will also reportedly meet business leaders from India Inc during his trip. The list of invitees includes Reliance Industries Limited chairman Mukesh Ambani, Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran, Mahindra Group head Anand Mahindra, Larsen and Toubro chairman A M Naik and Biocon MD Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.
Meanwhile, Larry Kudlow, economic advisor to President Trump, also told reporters at the White House that there is a “greater” potential that trade between India and the US may increase.
More than 5,000 security personnel will be deployed for the security of the US President. On Monday, a team of US officials along with local administration officers conducted a security sweep of the Taj Mahal. The local administration officials were also briefed by US officials regarding the visit.
