Indian Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has become a messiah for Indians stranded abroad. This time the lady has been successful in bringing back an Indian man who had walked a distance of 1,000 kms over a period of two years to attend court proceedings in Dubai just to obtain a flight ticket to home.
Sushma Swaraj who is suffering from kidney problems and undergoing dialysis informed that the government has helped Jagannathan Selvaraj, who hails from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, to return to his village.

Sushma tweeted, “We have brought him back to India and sent him to his village. He went up and down to the court 20 times over a year. That made it 1000 km.”
Jagannathan Selvaraj went to court in Dubai for two years so that he could return to his village in Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu. Though a bus trip to the court in Karama area costs a few dirhams, but Selvaraj did not have money to travel by bus and was forced to spend two hours for a one-way trip and another two hours for the return journey after every court hearing.He had told a Dubai newspaper that he had to bear through traffic, heat, sandstorm and exhaustion to appear for court proceedings. He was living in a public parking area and desperately wanted to return to India.
Jagannathan Selvaraj wanted to return since his mother's death two years ago. But he was not allowed to go back for her funeral.The story was brought to Swaraj's notice through a news article.
The External Affairs Minister had tweeted that she would seek a report from the Indian Embassy in Dubai and after her intervention, the hapless man was finally brought to India and united with his family.
Sushma Swaraj has previously helped hundreds of Indians stranded abroad or with missing passports to get back home safely. She is truely an Indian messiah for the Indian diaspora spread across the whole world.
