There is an alluring display of more than 10,000 sunflowers at the picturesque Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome.
Aptly christened ‘Sunflower Surprise’, the floral show will run from today till October 21.
There are about 50 varieties of the sunflower which are on display including the fluffy 'Teddy Bear' to the enormous 'Russian Mammoth', which is as large as a human face.
To excite your senses, there are more than 16,000 sunflowers of various shapes, shades and sizes being grown for the display, half of which includes unusual varieties grown from seeds sourced from the United States.
The visitors will be taken on an exciting journey of the sunflowers which have been set up against a backdrop inspired by characters and scenes from the classic The Wonderful Wizard of Oz story.
They can spot their favourite characters among the blooms include Dorothy, as well her friends Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion.
Inquisitive people can get more information about the different varieties of the sunflowers by undertaking ‘Ask Me’ tours in which display interpreters will share fascinating botanical facts and anecdotes about the floral display.
Children can make their visit exciting on September 8 as they can learn to paint these cheery blooms using edible paints on fondant cupcake toppers and also bring home 6 gardenesque cupcakes to enjoy. The event is being conducted by Gra Baking Academy, a school which has expertise in making and decorating cakes.
