Nara Lokesh, Information and Technology Minister of the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh has been selected for the prestigious SR Nathan Fellowship by the Singapore government. The Minister is currently on a three-day tour of Singapore.
The fellowship is named after the Singapore’s sixth and longest-serving President SR Nathan. He was one of the architects of modern Singapore who transformed the country. The fellowship is being granted to those who have transformed the lives of the public by using technology.
Through this fellowship, Singapore government encouraged public leaders to take up studies in tackling different issues concerning the poor. Vietnam deputy prime minister Vu Van Ninh and governor of Jeju province Won Hee-ryong were recipients of the fellowship in the past.
Meanwhile, many NRIs welcomed the Minister Nara Lokesh on his arrival at Changi Airport in Singapore.
“Landed in Singapore to a warm reception from members of Singapore @JaiTDP. Also interacted with several Telugus who accompanied me on the flight from Vijaywada,” tweeted Lokesh as he landed in Singapore.
The Minister will interact with several ministers and industrialists during his tour. He would receive the SR Nathan Fellowship at Institute of Policy Study.
During his visit, the Minister would chiefly focus on the projects in the areas of housing for poor, commerce, culture, finance and culture being implemented in Singapore.
Lokesh could complete the study under fellowship in a span of 12 months.
It also needs to be mentioned that Lokesh has earned many awards including Digital Leader of the Year and Scotch Person of the Year. He also featured in the list of Top 100 Influential Young People.
