Singapore-based band Bandwidth is putting in the heart-work for individuals in the live entertainment sector who have been severely impacted by COVID-19 measures.
Together with Teamwork Productions, the band has organised a fundraiser in the form of a web concert titled “Bandwidth – Apart yet Together” to help these individuals and families tide over this crisis.
In part a tribute to the large group of people who have put in hard work for the audio-visual spectacle that completes the “live” experience for the audience, the event will be held on Sunday, May 24 at 9.30pm. It made possible with the help of Ray of Hope, a registered charity.
Bandwidth in a press statement honoured these backstage heroes. "They are the freelancers who work from gig to gig earning a modest living."
When COVID-19 hit, the live entertainment gigs dried up and over the last few months months, their freelance income disappeared, with no sight as to when these events will return. Many of them are struggling to feed their families.
The band therefore decided to put together this live web event with songs recorded while in lockdown, with all the funds generated to go into helping those who work behind the scenes.
