The body of 23-year-old Arava Kiran Kumar Reddy, who died in Scotland, was sent home to India, thanks to the Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj paying attention to her Twitter feed.
Arava Kiran Kumar Reddy died of a heart attack on April 6 at Aberdeen. L Suresh Reddy, a relative of the deceased, had sent a tweet to Swaraj asking for help in bringing the body back to India.
The Consulate General of India, Edinburgh, set the process in motion. Vijay Dwivedi, additional private secretary to Minister of External Affairs, pursued the matter.
"The body is being sent today to Hyderabad via Glasgow-Dubai flight," the Consulate General of India in Scotland informed the family on April 18. "The consulate prepared all the necessary documents for transportation of the body."
Arava Kiran Kumar Reddy reportedly suffered a heart stroke while alone at home. He was employed as a deputy manager in a company in London. His wife, who he married a year ago, was in India when the family learnt about his death.
