Changi Airport of Singapore handled 5.57 million passenger movements in June 2018, which is a 6.9 per cent year-on-year increase, announced Changi Airport Group (CAG) today. Moreover, India showed the strongest growth of 13 per cent in passenger movements in the first half of the year.
Aircraft movements grew 3.1 per cent at 31,870 landings and takeoffs in June, while airfreight throughput dipped 0.8 per cent to 170,630 tonnes, compared to the same period last year.
Revealing the figures of June, CAG said, “In June, traffic between Singapore and Europe grew 19 per cent. Among Changi’s top 10 markets, Indonesia (11 per cent) and Japan (12 per cent) were the fastest growing, boosted by travel to Denpasar and Tokyo.”
“Routes to London, Melbourne, Mumbai and Shanghai also registered double digit growth,” it added.
In addition to this, Changi Airport registered 32.1 million passenger movements in the first six months of 2018 which is 5.5 per cent higher than the same period last year.
Nine of Changi’s top 10 markets – Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Australia, India, the Philippines, Japan and Vietnam – recorded higher traffic, with India registering the strongest growth of 13 per cent.
During the six months, aircraft movements rose 4.2 per cent to 190,970, while airfreight throughput grew 2.7 per cent to reach 1.04 million tonnes. Among Changi’s top 10 cargo markets, India (7 per cent) and Japan (10 per cent) grew the fastest.
Among other developments, LOT Polish Airlines introduced one more Singapore-Warsaw connection, bringing the total number of weekly services to four.
