Copa America 2024: Lautaro Martinez’s Extra Time goal helps Argentina clinch record 16th title

Lautaro Martinez emerged as the hero for Argentina as his late goal in extra time helped defending champion retain their title. Argentina defeated Colombia in the Copa America 2024 final at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida’s Miami Gardens on Monday, July 15.

Martinez scored the sole goal of the match at the 112-minute mark, preventing the game to go to penalty shootouts.

Lionel Messi and his men won the match 1-0, as Argentina clinched their record 16th trophy.

Martinez also won the Golden Boot, for scoring five goals, including the tournament winning strike, in the competition.
