Singapore’s tally of COVID-19 cases breached the 15,000-mark as the Ministry of Health confirmed 690 new infections as of 12 pm on April 29.
The total number of cases in the country now stands at 15,641, MOH said in a press statement.
The vast majority of the new cases are work permit holders living in foreign worker dormitories, where the government has greatly stepped up testing. Most of these cases have a mild illness.
There are 11 new cases in the local community, with only six of whom are Singaporeans or permanent residents.
MOH said the number of new cases in the community has decreased, from an average of 25 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 17 per day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has also decreased, from an average of 17 cases per day in the week before, to an average of 9 per day in the past week.
