Singapore’s tally of COVID-19 cases crossed the 19,000-mark with the Ministry of Health (MOH) confirming 632 new infections as of 12 pm on May 5. The total number of cases in the country is now 19,410.
The majority of the new cases are work permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories, said MOH. Of the new cases, 97 per cent are linked to known clusters, while the rest are pending contact tracing.
Meanwhile, eight cases are Singaporeans or permanent residents, said MOH. Four other community cases are work pass holders.
Health Minister Gan Kim Yong on Monday told Parliament that three factors would have to be considered before circuit breaker measures can be lifted in Singapore. This includes zero or single digit daily COVID-19 cases over a sustained period of time.
