The leading dating app Woo has acquired DUS – a Los Angeles-based dating app focused on the South Asian community.
Woo has formally signed an agreement with DUS and now will acquire its platform and brand to increase their foothold in the US, one of the largest markets for the online dating industry, along with UK and Canada.
According to Shawn Sheikh, CEO, DUS, "Our goal has always been to promote freedom of choice when it comes to dating along with generally helping Desis meet each other. The Woo acquisition will provide us with the resources to continue to do just that."
This acquisition with DUS will focus on strengthening the positioning of Woo in the global arena by connecting Indian diaspora all over the world.
Talking about the acquisition, Sumesh Menon, Co-Founder of Woo said, "I am confident that DUS acquisition will help accelerate our outreach to Indians globally. While originally designed for India alone, we quickly realised that our platform had a global appeal and was already favoured by Indians internationally to form a strong connect back to their homeland."
Jus Reign – famous Indian-Canadian comedian and a YouTube personality is one of the founders of DUS. He will continue to use his online voice to continue DUS' mission by promoting Woo through his audience, which is primarily western South Asians.
The DUS leadership team will continue to support Woo in thinking through its country growth strategy and customising user features designed.
DUS was specifically designed for South Asian singles to provide them with a dating opportunity within their community for the international Indian community.
Since its inception in 2014, Woo is the pioneer in the online dating industry of India.
