Actress Deepika Padukone wished everyone on Navratri in a delightful way as she posted the poster of her upcoming movie Padmavati on social media. The most awaited film of the year will see her in the character of Rani Padmini, starring alongside Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor.
The 32-year-old actress shared two posters from her forthcoming movie in which she is seen wearing ethnic attire, and accessorised with heavy jewellery.
Deepika sports an intense look in the posters and her glare is the most striking feature that adds to her authoritative look in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial. "Devi sthapana ke shubh avsar pe miliye Rani Padmavati se, (Meet Rani Padmavati on the auspicious occasion of Navratri’s first day)" wrote the actress.
The Indian period drama film is a fictionalised account of the life of Rani Padmini, a legendary queen mentioned in Padmavat. According to Padmavat, she was the wife of Rana Rawal Ratan Singh, the ruler of Mewar. In 1303, Alauddin Khilji, the Turkic ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, laid siege to the Chittor Fort in Rajputana. As per Padmavat, Khilji led the invasion motivated by his desire to capture Rani Padmini.
The film is scheduled to be released on December 1, 2017.
