Indian cricket superstar Mahendra Singh Dhoni inaugurated his second overseas cricket academy at St Patrick’s School in Singapore yesterday.
The Indian cricketer called out to kids to drop their PSPs and iPads and get out to play a sport. He added since his first love was cricket he would love to see more and more kids play the game. With over 300 students enrolled in the first round of coaching, the academy seems to be off to a good start.
Dhoni emphasised that the right kind of guidance was required for kids and that his academy was “selective to get the right kind of people” who have the expertise in interacting with children. He also said he recognised the importance of working with a team who were familiar with local conditions, culture and factors. The academy will follow a structured curriculum developed by Dhoni while popular stars of Singapore cricket, Diviya GK, Chetan Suryavanshi and Chaminda Ruwan will work with Dhoni and team to implement it.
“What I want to focus on is how to approach life in general and get more out of it by keeping it simple,” said Dhoni. “You get a good result because of your efforts and preparation, not by wishing for one.”
