To promote healthy lifestyle among Singaporeans, NTUC FairPrice will offer two per cent discount on fresh fruits and vegetables every Wednesday until the end of the year.
Making this announcement through a media release, NTUC said, “The discount will apply to all 143 outlets islandwide, comprising FairPrice supermarkets, FairPrice Shop, FairPrice Finest and FairPrice Xtra, to promote healthier eating among Singaporeans.”
This discount is part of an ongoing holistic approach to support the national drive towards a healthier lifestyle by making it more affordable for Singaporeans to incorporate more vegetables and fruits in their diet. The Health Promotion Board (HPB) recommends fruits and vegetables make up half the portion of every meal. This initiative is estimated to cost the company SGD360,000.
This is the second initiative of the company FairPrice as it earlier offered discounts of at least 10 per cent on eight healthier rice products in August.
Notably, FairPrice offers a wide range of over 2,800 fresh fruits and vegetables comprising different types, brands and pack sizes – including FairPrice’s own housebrand range, Pasar and Pasar Organic – for shoppers to choose from, depending on seasonal availability.
The release further stated, “Over the years, FairPrice has also supported various public education campaigns to promote healthy eating and active living. In 2015, FairPrice also provided a discount of 10 per cent on all FairPrice housebrand fresh produce for six months.”
