At least five people were injured in a shooting incident in Washington DC on Friday, police said. The incident occurred just days after a vehicle attack, carried out by a suspected ISIS-inspired lone attacker in New Orleans on New Year’s Day, killed at least 15 people and left over a dozen others injured.
Sharing details about the shooting incident in Washington DC, police said on X: “Shooting investigation in the 1500 block of Harry Thomas Way NE. Preliminary: Adult male and adult female located at the scene, transported conscious and breathing. Two additional adult males arrived at a hospital, both conscious and breathing.”
Police said detectives have reached the spot and an investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
“A fifth patient, an adult male, was also injured in this incident. Preliminarily, this shooting stemmed from a dispute between known parties,” police said, sharing details about the fifth person injured in the shooting.

In the New Orleans attack, the suspect, named Shamsud-Din Jabbar, drove his pickup truck through the crowd before he was shot dead by the police.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation said an ISIS flag was found inside his vehicle.
According to reports, two improvised explosive devices were also found nearby.
The same day, a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside a Trump hotel in Vegas. The driver, as per reports, had shot himself inside the vehicle minutes before the vehicle exploded, injuring several people.
A third incident, a mass shooting, was reported outside a nightclub in New York City on January 1. The shooting left at least 10 people injured.
