Former Indian High Commissioner to Singapore Jawed Ashraf takes charge as envoy to France

Former Indian High Commissioner to Singapore, Jawed Ashraf, formally took charge as the new Indian ambassador to France. The 1991 batch IFS officer succeeds Vinay Kwatra (1988 batch).

HE Ashraf served as the envoy to Singapore from 2016 till 2020. He was at the forefront of the COVID-19 repatriation mission in Singapore, helping stranded Indians get home as part of the government’s Vande Bharat Mission.  

The ambassador tweeted an image of himself as he took charge saying, “A 13-hour journey from Singapore. Different continent, country and city. A new home and a new office. However, the same mission: serving our country and our people.”

HE Ashraf has travelled to France with his wife Ghazala Shahabuddin and mother Rashda Ashraf who were also welcomed at the Indian embassy France. 

The seasoned diplomat will have a crucial role in enhancing the rising strategic ties between India and France.
