One year is a really short time for a yoga studio to establish its brand, especially in Singapore's saturated market. But Trust Yoga founder Manoj Deshwal has managed to garner a strong following of students who turn up on the mat a few times a week for his creatively sequenced classes.
Established just last year in 2017, Trust Yoga is located conveniently within walking distance from Telok Ayer station. It is an area with a high concentration of both boutique and chain studios – but the new player to the game stands strong against all competition.
Manoj encountered yoga at the age of 12, and since then, his passion for yoga and quest for perfection has pushed him towards continual improvement daily. In 2007, he clinched the “Champion of the Champion” award in Asana category India National yoga competition in 2007. The following year, he was awarded the World Champion in International yoga competition.
After working as a yoga instructor in Bhatnagar International School and Maharshi Patanjali Yoga Sansthan in India for several years, Manoj began teaching in Singapore in 2011. He has been relentlessly sharing his deep understanding of the body anatomy and yoga knowledge with the students here, who are from various cultural backgrounds.
On the inspiration for the name of the studio, Manoj explained that ‘trust’ was something he saw dwindling in modern society. He had hoped that through his practice and his teachings, he could foster more trust among humans, as well as in the practice of yoga.
