Global Indian International School (GIIS) will be offering an NBA-level technology in its SMART Campus at Punggol, to help students improve their sports performance.
The Sports Performance Enhancing Data Analytics System (SPEDAS) captures game data for analysis, to enhance the performances of individual players and the team. It is currently being deployed by world-class teams like LA Lakers.
At GIIS SMART Campus, students will wear trackers/tags during games which capture player movements through tracking devices like sensors and cameras. These devices will help accurately map the sports field, individual performance and gather game statistics during intra-school and inter-school competitions.
Data can then be analysed to study player performance in detail, like their strengths and weaknesses. This will aid the team in strategising for future games.
“Sports is an essential part of our pedagogy at GIIS. With the introduction of NBA style analysis, our players are sure to improve their game and learn important aspects of strategy,” said Atul Temurnikar, Co-Founder & Chairman of GIIS. “SPEDAS will enable our coaches to capture the students’ on-field performance through digital technology and provide analytics to improve their game further.”
The technology will be available at indoor Basketball court at the SMART Campus when it is operational soon.
The GIIS SMART Campus in Singapore combines 21st century pedagogy with state-of-the-art amenities to deliver a modern educational experience.
Upon completion, this NextGen campus will accommodate 3,500 students in its sprawling 33,000 sqm, seven-storey school. Its more than 130 classrooms will be powered by e-learning tools like interactive TV display panels, tablets and projectors.
GIIS offers International Baccalaureate, Cambridge IGCSE and CBSE curriculum and Global Montessori Plus curricula in its four campuses around Singapore.
The school is expected to be operational from the third quarter of this year. Admissions are currently open for the next session.
