Google’s smart speaker with a screen called Google Nest Hub is now available in Singapore. The device is aimed at helping people simplify their daily lives and comes equipped with Google Assistant, enabling users to voice access Google Search, YouTube, Google Photos, Calendar, Maps and much more.
“We are building on Google Assistant to make it more useful to Singaporeans, and we are thrilled to introduce a new member to the Nest family that helps us take this further. Through a smart display, Google Nest Hub offers an additional layer of interactivity and more detailed help to elevate the smart home experience and bring families and friends closer together," said Mickey Kim, Google’s Director for APAC Hardware Business.
The seven-inch screen serves as a floating display to view photos whenever the user wants. The device does not have a camera, ensuring privacy in case it is placed in the private spaces of the house. On the top of the device is the Ambient EQ light sensor that allows the screen to automatically adjust to match the lighting in the room.
Some of the features of the Google Nest Hub include:
1. Routines, which allows up to six people in the house to personalise their daily routine through voice match. The feature allows users to view their activities from Google Calendar, their commute through Google Maps, reminders, and the latest news.
2. Photo Frame: Google Nest Hub provides a photo frame, which automatically refreshes photos and features the best shots.
3. Hands-free help in the kitchen: Google has teamed up with food channels such as Tasty, Food Network and Genius Kitchen to allow users to use their voice and be able to browse millions of recipes.
