ZEE5 Global has released the trailer of its upcoming movie Costao, a crime drama set in 1990s Goa. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Costao Fernandes, a brave and sharp customs officer who takes on a powerful smuggling empire.

Known for his intense roles, Nawazuddin once again brings a strong performance in this gripping story of courage, sacrifice, and justice.
Directed by first-time filmmaker Sejal Shah, Costao also stars Priya Bapat, Kishore Kumar G, Gagan Dev Riar, and Hussain Dalal.
The film will premiere on May 1 on ZEE5 Global.
The trailer gives a peek into the world of Costao, a fearless officer who is not afraid to fight the system. When he clashes with the brother of a dangerous smuggler, it sparks a violent chain of events. Hunted and betrayed, Costao is pushed to the edge but refuses to give up. He fights for justice, for his family, and for his own redemption.
Producer Vinod Bhanushali said they always wanted to tell unique stories, and Costao is one such film. He praised Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s performance, calling it raw and unforgettable. After the success of Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, the team believed Costao deserved a wide platform like ZEE5 Global to reach the right audience.
Director Sejal Shah shared that the film is about the price one pays for doing the right thing. She said it was both challenging and rewarding to bring the story to life and credited Nawazuddin Siddiqui for adding depth to the role.
“Bringing this world to life has been a challenge and a privilege, and I couldn’t have asked for a better actor than Nawazuddin Siddiqui to play Costao. He brings an unmatched authenticity and complexity to the character,” Shah said.
Talking about the film, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said Costao is not just about fighting criminals but also about fighting a corrupt system.
“There is a dialoug in the film where the character says ‘Humare society mein sabko chahiye ki Officer honest ho aur brave ho… lekin Ghar mein Nahi’; it’s so true. Costao’s courage in the face of unbeatable odds reflects this perfectly. His battle is not only against criminals but against a system that tries to break him at every turn. I can’t wait for viewers to experience the explosive twists, raw emotion, and relentless intensity that Costao brings. It’s a story that will keep you at the edge, questioning what’s right, what’s wrong, and what one man is willing to sacrifice for justice. Don’t miss it; Costao drops on May 1st!” Nawazuddin said.
Costao is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Bhavesh Mandalia, Sejal Shah, Shyam Sunder, and Faizuddin Siddiqui. It is written by Bhavesh Mandalia and Meghna Srivastava.
